Sport

Here at Southcity, we offer a wide range of sports for our pupils. We believe that sport is important in contributing to the development of our children. All pupils from Grade 1-3 participate in two afternoon practices a week. Grade R-3 classes also have weekly Physical Education lessons during their academic hours. Our sporting options are listed below. Please refer to the term calendar for the relevant days and dates for practices and matches/tournaments.

Swimming

Swimming is compulsory for all Junior Primary children. We host an annual Inter-House Gala, in which every child will swim in either fun races or competitive races. A school team is chosen from this event, which then competes in an Inter-School Gala. Our top Grade Three swimmers are also invited to compete at the Lower South Coast Colours Gala in order to achieve swimming colours.

Boys Mini Cricket, Girls Hockey & Boys Soccer

All children participate in their relevant sporting practices. Our top players are selected for various teams which compete against other schools in mid-week matches and weekend tournaments.

Athletics & Cross Country

The third term is a busy one with Inter-House and Inter-School Athletics days to look forward to. Our Inter-House Cross Country is also very competitive and our top runners from Grade 3 will also compete in Inter-Schools events.
